Vintage Tablescape for Halloween

I am a Fall girly, not a Spooky girly. I love celebrations as much as the next person, but it’s hard to get into the spirit when traditional Halloween decor makes me squeamish lol. Like, I get nauseous walking into Party City (I know, I’m a wimp!). So this year, I wanted to celebrate spooky season in my own way — with a moody, vintage-inspired table setting.

Things I love: vintage glassware and beautiful china sets.

Things I don’t love: cobwebs, fake blood, monster masks, SPIDERS

the china set:

The star of the show here is the vintage china set, featuring a bold black rim and muted flowers. As soon as I saw this china set, I immediately knew I wanted to style it for Halloween. It’s really rare to see china with this much black in the design; most china patterns feature light, dainty, ultra-feminine designs and color palettes. The black rim, plus the muted lavender floral accents makes for a perfectly subtle Halloween vibe.

This China Set is made by Mikasa and the design is called “Charisma Black”.

the glassware:

I decided to include 2 different vintage glassware sets for the water goblets. Partially because I was torn and couldn’t decide which one I loved more and partially because mixing different glasses (and colors) makes the tabletop feel a bit more festive. For the place settings, I alternated between gothic purple goblets and taller amber glasses.

I love how deep and moody the purple glasses are and how they compliment those lavender details within the china. I used the amber water glasses (along with matching amber small plates) to incorporate the orange tones traditionally associated with Halloween.

the dried floral centerpiece:

I love styling my home with dried florals all year long, but I especially love them for fall and winter when we have fewer options for fresh florals. Dried florals are as close to “dead” as I’m willing to get with my decorations, haha. You won’t find zombies or skeletons anywhere near my house. And don’t get me started on those fake, bloody limbs people hang out the trunk of their car for Halloween 😖.

For this tablescape, I wanted to incorporate lots of autumnal tones — tans, browns, earthy greens, rust, maroon, etc. The centerpiece was the perfect opportunity to bring all these colors together. I found a dark green, ribbed, vintage-inspired vase that added some height to the whole table setting, and was the perfect size for a large floral arrangement. I used dried florals I already had on hand and added in some new dried stems I found at World Market.

This is the vase I bought, and here are the dried florals from World Market. I also love ordering dried flowers from Afloral.

OTHER LITTLE DETAILS

I already owned all the china, vintage glassware, and gold utensils, but there were a couple little details I bought to complete this tablescape. I knew I wanted some candlesticks to add height, dimension, and set the mood. I’m on the hunt for actual vintage brass candlesticks, but this 3-pack from Target is perfect in the meantime. I can’t wait to bring these back out for Thanksgiving and Christmas, too!

I also wanted to add another pop of color with my napkins. These raw-hem, dark rust-colored napkins from World Market worked out really well! They give all the fall vibes and match a lot of the foliage in my dried floral arrangement.

I hope you liked my girly, moody, vintage-inspired take on a Halloween tablescape! Do you go all out for Halloween? Let me know in the comments!
